On departure from the picturesque village of Ings you will fly over Windermere and Bowness. Viewing the remarkable landscape that unfolds beneath you is one of the most amazing flying experiences you will ever undertake. You will turn north over the historic Belle Isle towards the Langdale Pikes on one side and the spectacular slopes of Helvellyn on the other. Continuing to climb to over 3,000 feet, you will head further north to Keswick.
From Keswick the flight turns eastwards viewing Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Castlerigg Stone Circle. You will then head in a southerly direction over Ullswater to the summit of High Street (weather permitting) then following the Kirkstone Pass and descending towards Windermere, landing back at Ings. This truly is a breathtaking helicopter trip. Whichever way you look you will be amazed at the incredible scenery, a must for young and old alike, for walkers, photographers and anybody with a quest for adventure!
Directions to Ings
M6. Exit at Junction 36. Take the A 590, then the A 591 in the direction Windermere for approximately 15 minutes.
Turn off at the village of Ings and follow signs for Helicopter Flights.
The flying field is just 30 meters away from the Watermill Inn. LA8 9PY.
The Inn has its own Brewery. Food is served from 12.00 noon to 9.00pm every day and there is ample parking for customers.
